In front of Dinis Cottage, Alan tells us of preparations for the Queen's 1861 visit. The estate owner financed huge sums over several years. The only 'thank you' would be an expected Knighthood. Unfortunately the Queen's mourning of Prince Albert's untimely death (immediately following her visit) precluded the honoraria which was never received.
